I've been having an off week of training this week. I ran a couple shorter distance runs instead of my normal 10-12 mile mid-week runs. Initially, I thought I should just think of it as a taper week for the Headlands50 on July 17. But, I don't really like the idea of tapering when my ultimate goals for running ultras is to finish the race within the allotted time and enjoy the experience. Anyway, I found a posting on Stephanie's 50marathonchallenge blog about a local 50 mile race this Saturday, July 10. I read a little bit about the race, and thought that this could definitely make my weekend running more interesting, and with it only having a $25 registration fee, I could stop at any time and not feel bad about it. It could be a long training run with aid stations. After some consideration, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. So, unofficially, I will be attempting to complete two 50 mile races in back-to-back weekends. It'll be interesting to see how this goes, and a challenge non-the-less.
I will be posting a post race report this weekend. It will be interesting to see what tomorrow holds. I will definitely be going out to finish the entire 50 miles in this Dawg Gone Long Run!
Have fun this weekend!
